Vanna, Cambodia

As young government soldier in Cambodia, Vanna was training recruits and left to go get some food during a training break.  He went to pass through some thick foliage on his walk, and as he bent down to move an object, it exploded.  When Vanna woke up, both of his hands were gone.  He spent 9 months in hospital after his incident. When he left he believed he was a burden to his family so he ended up begging in the streets of Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital city.

After many ups and downs, Vanna opened up his own business selling books about Cambodian history from a book cart on the street.  Vanna is known for his ability to stay positive and greet everyone with a smile.

In 2019, VHP heard of his story and put him into contact with our partner in Cambodia, Agile Development Group, where he was fit with his very own Victoria Hand.  Thanks to his prosthetic arm, he can now operate his book business more efficiently and better provide for his wife and daughters.
